Dynamic characteristics of construction materials

As an example, the recalculation of present - mostly very old - buildings regarding the intake by dynamic weights is important for the evaluation of earthquake resistance and for the palling of respective correction measures. In old buildings the earthquake resistance have not or only insufficiently been considered in static calculations.

As a result recalculations in combination with Model-Updating technologies are used to evaluate current safety standards. At the same time it is necessary to analyse used building materials realistically. While there exist corresponding models for the established building materials concrete, reinforced concrete and steel, there are no appropriate parameters for masonry. Given the amount of research undertaken by arsenal research in the past years an appropriate material model for masonry could be developed with realistic features.
