Tyre/road surface condition

Bauwerksmonitoring

The rolling noise in vehicle link on the road marks the origin of essential noise in medium and high speeds. Analysing the rolling noise and texture allows for better possibilities of acoustic classification of road surfaces. Parallel surveys of texture and rolling sound spectrums deliver important potential for optimisation. The research in this area is one of the main areas for the acoustic exploration of road surfaces.

The exploration of acoustic characteristics of different road surfaces occurs with rolling noise and pass drives measurements, evaluating texture and tyre/ road noise assesses the environmental suitability of transport systems as far as their noise behaviour.

The measurements were conducted according to ISO 11819-2 with the rolling noise trailer which is unique in Austria and has been developed by the Mobility Department. These measurements serve as a basis for the analysis and evaluation of the inter-dependence of different parameter influencing the road surface. Drive measurements according to ISO 11819-1 are used to better evaluate emission levels. This research aims to improve measurements and elaborate concepts lowering the noise level.
