Besides the stationary inspection method of thermal solar collectors, the Europe-wide uniform standard EN 12975 also approves of a quasi-dynamic procedure for the inspection of solar collectors. arsenal research endeavours to develop and validate this method by its own examinations and exchange of experience with other test centers.
On the basis of numerous recorded parameters, the quasi-dynamical collector model enables on the one hand an accurate description of the behaviour of solar collectors under different operating and weather conditions, on the other hand, a significantly greater time frame is available for the outdoor collector inspection than with the previous stationary method.
The simulation of annual yield establishes the vital basis for solar collectors with regard to the assessment of the energy gain from the sun and thus also enters in the economic amortization calculation. Thus, the knowledge of the realistic behaviour of the collector, which for the first time can be achieved from the quasi-dynamic inspection, serves the development of methods for a more accurate simulation of the annual yield.
