Due to increasing technical requirements and rising cost pressure of electric components (power switching devices, fuse units, disconnectors, etc.) high demands for research and development arise. For providing safe electrical networks even at increasing power demand and at a high degree of interconnectedness, switching devices are required, which limit and control higher short-circuit currents.
The AIT Energy Department focuses on the implementation of a simulation and development environment, accelerating the development process of new components and avoiding expensive prototype testing. Using modern simulation methods and instruments, switching processes are described and analysed in their complexity. Application of these simulation results allows for increased reliability and safety of electric systems and their components.
