On behalf of the European Commission, the leading European research institutes in the field of decentralized power supply will join to a European Network of Excellence – “Distributed Energy Resources” (DER-LAB) as of 2006. Besides the coordinator ISET, the Energy Department will assume an important role in organisation and scientific work. 11 European research laboratories (independent institutes, universities) will serve as a joint European laboratory with different sites.
It is the objective of this research network, to assume the leading role in the worldwide research in the field of integration of decentralized power generation into public power supply networks.
In the foreground of joint R & D activities in the field of network connection, safety, operation and communication of decentralized power generation components and systems will be:
- development of joint requirements for the power supply of public networks
- development of quality criteria
- development of test methods and criteria as well as certification procedures
- active contribution to the European and international standardisation
- education, transfer of knowledge
Partners in the European laboratory are:
- Institute for Solar Energy Supply Technology – association with the university of Kassel (ISET) e.V. (project management), Germany
- The University of Manchester (UKDG), UK
- KEMA T&D Consulting (KEMA), The Netherlands
- Fundación LABEIN (LABEIN), Spain
- RISŘ National Laboratory (RISOE), Denmark
- National Technical University of Athens (ICCS/NTUA), Greece
- Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano SpA “Giacinto Motta” (CESI), Italy
- Commissariat ŕ l´ Energie Atomique (CEA), France
- Technical University of Sofia - Research and Development Sector (TUSofia), Bulgaria
- Technical University of Lodz, Institute of Electrical Power Engineering (TULodz), Poland
